Education Strategy

The Blood Health Plan, and more recently the findings of the Infected Blood Inquiry, recognise the importance of transfusion education to ensure safe transfusion practice. To support this the BHNOG Education Strategy Group (ESG) was established which will provide oversight and direction to ensure a cohesive and standardised approach to transfusion education and training across Wales, as laid out in its strategy (link below).

The BHNOG Education Strategy promotes the provision of standardised transfusion education across the full spectrum of healthcare workers in Wales, enabling the delivery of high-quality care, placing safety at the forefront of transfusion practice and advancing a patient blood management approach.
